Boney Kapoor Reveals Why Salman, Anil & Fardeen Are Not in No Entry 2

Boney Kapoor Reveals Why Salman, Anil & Fardeen Are Not in No Entry 2

When filmmaker Boney Kapoor announced in 2019 that a sequel to the 2005 comedy blockbuster No Entry was in the works, fans of the original erupted with excitement. The film, directed by Anees Bazmee, had become one of the most successful comedies of its time, featuring a star-studded trio of Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan. Their chemistry, comic timing, and quirky storyline made No Entry a cult favorite in Bollywood’s comedy genre.

Now, nearly two decades later, No Entry 2 is finally moving forward. However, to the disappointment of many fans, the sequel will not feature the original trio. Instead, younger stars like Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor are stepping into leading roles. In a recent interview, producer Boney Kapoor expressed his regret over not being able to retain Salman, Anil, and Fardeen, admitting that waiting too long cost him the chance to recreate the same magic with the original cast.

The Long Wait for No Entry 2

The journey of No Entry 2 has been a long and complicated one. Soon after the success of the first film, there was immediate demand for a sequel. Boney Kapoor himself was keen on reuniting the cast, but challenges kept pushing the project further away.

Speaking about the delay, Boney revealed that he waited nearly 8 to 10 years for Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan to give their nod. Unfortunately, due to busy schedules, changing priorities, and other commitments, the sequel never took off with the original stars.

“Waqt beet gaya wait karte karte… gaadi aage nikal gayi. Ab ye pachhtaawa hoga ki same setup nahi hai,” Boney said, reflecting on the missed opportunity. (“Time passed as we waited, the train has moved on. Now, there will always be this regret that the original setup isn’t there.”)

Fond Memories of the Original Trio

The 2005 No Entry worked largely because of the sparkling performances of its lead trio. Salman Khan played the mischievous and flamboyant Prem, Anil Kapoor was the innocent and bumbling Kishan, while Fardeen Khan portrayed the confused Sunny. Together, they created a laugh riot around extra-marital affairs, mistaken identities, and endless chaos.

For Boney Kapoor, the decision to move ahead without them was not easy. “Salman is a fantastic guy, Anil is a fantastic guy, brother and actor. Fardeen is one of the best people I’ve known in the industry. I will miss them. But somehow, we’ve moved on, and let’s hope the decision proves right,” he said.

His words underline the bittersweet reality—while Bollywood has moved toward fresh talent and newer faces, there is still nostalgia and affection for the veterans who made the first No Entry iconic.

What’s New in No Entry 2?

Despite the regret, Boney Kapoor and Anees Bazmee are determined to make No Entry 2 just as entertaining as its predecessor. The sequel will feature a younger lineup of stars, with Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor taking center stage. Both actors are known for their comic timing and versatility, and their casting signals an attempt to bring in fresh energy for a new generation of viewers.

Reports also suggest that the female cast is yet to be finalized. However, buzz in the industry points to Tamannaah Bhatia potentially being roped in. Her presence could add a new layer of glamour and freshness to the franchise.

The Diljit Dosanjh Factor

Earlier, rumors suggested that singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh would also be part of No Entry 2. Fans were excited to see how his humor and charm would blend with the quirky storyline. However, recent speculation hinted that he had exited the project due to creative differences.

Boney Kapoor, however, dismissed those reports. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he clarified, “Yes, there are date issues, but certainly no creative differences. That is absolutely false. We are trying our best to work the dates out.”

This leaves fans hopeful that Diljit may still be part of the film, depending on how schedules align.

Revisiting the Legacy of No Entry

To truly understand why fans are so emotionally attached to the original cast, one must revisit what No Entry meant for Bollywood in 2005.

At a time when action and romance dominated Hindi cinema, No Entry arrived as a refreshing dose of slapstick comedy. With its ensemble cast, hilarious dialogues, and foot-tapping songs like Koi Ladki Hai and Ishq Mein, the film brought back the charm of old-school Bollywood comedy while still feeling modern.

The film grossed huge numbers at the box office and became the highest-grossing film of 2005, solidifying Anees Bazmee’s reputation as a master of comedy. It also gave Fardeen Khan one of his most memorable roles and added another feather to the caps of Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor.

Will No Entry 2 Live Up to Expectations?

The big question now is whether the sequel can live up to the towering legacy of the original. Sequels in Bollywood often struggle to match audience expectations, especially when the first film has achieved cult status.

For Boney Kapoor, the challenge is twofold—winning over the loyal fans of the original while also attracting a younger audience that may not have the same nostalgia. The decision to cast Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor reflects this balancing act, as both actors enjoy a strong fan base among today’s youth while still being versatile enough to appeal to older viewers.

Moreover, with Anees Bazmee returning as the director, there is hope that the sequel will carry the same flavor of humor, chaos, and situational comedy that made the original special.

Boney Kapoor’s Honest Reflection

It is rare for Bollywood producers to openly admit to regret, but Boney Kapoor’s candid reflections show his emotional investment in the project. His acknowledgment that waiting too long cost him the original trio highlights the unpredictability of filmmaking, where timing often decides the fate of a project.

Still, Boney remains optimistic. He hopes that No Entry 2 will carve its own identity while paying homage to the original. Whether or not the sequel becomes another blockbuster remains to be seen, but what’s certain is that it carries the weight of immense audience expectations.

Conclusion

The announcement of No Entry 2 has reignited excitement among Bollywood fans. While there is undeniable disappointment that Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan will not return, the sequel also opens the door for fresh talent and a new wave of comedy.

Boney Kapoor’s regret over losing the original cast only reinforces how iconic the trio was to the film’s success. Yet, his decision to move ahead shows his determination to keep the franchise alive. With Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, and possibly Diljit Dosanjh leading the way, No Entry 2 promises to be a fresh take on a beloved classic.

As fans wait for more updates, one thing is clear—No Entry 2 carries not just the burden of nostalgia but also the promise of recreating laughter, chaos, and comedy for a new generation.
