Nushrratt had travelled to Israel in early October 2023 for the Haifa International Film Festival, where one of her films was scheduled to be screened. As tensions escalated and airstrikes began, her team reportedly lost contact with her for almost 24 hours, causing widespread panic. Fortunately, the Indian Embassy in Israel acted promptly, facilitating her safe evacuation to India on a special flight.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Nushrratt said, “It was a terrifying experience, one I never imagined I would go through. The sounds of sirens, running to shelters — it felt like a nightmare. But the Indian authorities were constantly in touch once they located me, and I am deeply thankful to Prime Minister Modi and the entire rescue team.”
